Signal Institute

Before my first step into the Signal Institute (SI), I was hoping that I could either get Infocomm 1 (IC1) or Info system operator as Infocomm 2 need to carry FBO + a big bulky heavy radio known as FBO3 which I will definitely fall out in the middle of route march. Unfortunately, I was given Infocomm 2 (IC2) because my PES status is B. There were also PES C people in IC2 but they were exempted from outfield.

Our platoon is located at 6th floor which is the highest floor in our company's building. It is very tired to climb up and down the stair daily. Our platoon only have 1 sergeant (SGT) and 1 warrant officer (WO). They told us that they will not inspect us frequently and it really happened that they didn't come to our bunk for 3 days. Since the first day, we never get scolded by our SGT before. My SGT is a regular army man, he treated us more like civilian adult rather which was really appreciative. My WO is a 51 years old Singh. He is strict but funny.

WO: "What is your handphone's brand?"
PTE: "Nokia."
WO: "Good, we can connect."

WO: "Which poly were you from?"
PTE: "Republic poly."
WO: "No good"
PTEs: "HAHAHA"

WO: "Do you know what CCIS stands for?"
PTE raised his hand and said: "Control Centre....."
WO: "You take over my place as an instructor and be a Warrent Officer."
PTE: "HAHAHA"
He told us to answer but still replied that.

WO: "Which poly were you from?"
PTE: Ngee Ann poly."
WO shake hand with PTE: "Good, I like this school."

SGT: "Did you brought the platoon to tour this area?"
WO: "My man are stupid, they will not be able to remember every location."
PTE: "HAHAHA"

WO: "You Indian?"
Indian PTE: "Yes."
WO: "I am Singh, want to friend me?"
Indian PTE: "Yes."

WO: "You all know my HP number?"
PTE: "No"
WO: "my number is 98767823." and he underlined 7823 and said: "tonight 4D 7823." (real number not to be revealed in my blog)
PTE: "HAHAHA"

WO: "Your father how many years old?"
PTE: "52 years old"
WO: "I am 51 years old, I need to respect your dad, what is the age of your mother?"
PTE: "50 years old"
WO: "It balance, so you must respect me."

WO: "Who don't have christian name raise your hand."
WO: "You tommy, You tummy, then you John and who else, okay you Tom."
WO: "From next time onward, I call you by this name, I don't want to call your name wrongly because I am singh.

WO: "Where you live?"
PTE: "Bedok"
WO: "I will post you near to your house after this course."
PTE: "Guards?"
WO: "You size I don't think you can be Signaller for guards."
