Psychiatry & Neurologist

My unit has a crazy person who recently got out of course. Now he is appointed to a psychiatry at Institute of Mental Hospital. He cried and laughed without reasons. Whenever he speaks, we do not understand what he means. He is in charged by a female warrant officer who is also afraid of him. Everyday, while we book in at 7:30am, he book in at 9:30am. Even if he comes late, nobody dare to scold him.

Even so, I think his mental problem is quite mild; not like those who tend to get angry and start to beat people. I saw a lot of weird things done by him like marching inside the Colonel meeting room. Some mentally fit soldiers are also stupid; despite his medical condition, they were still laughing at the crazy man's reaction whenever he did something stupid.

In spite of his mental problem, he completed his diploma liked us. But that was not surprising since I also have neurological problem since I need to see neurologist next week. Psychiatry is located at Institute of Mental Hospital (IMH) but neurologist is located at any hospital in Singapore. However, do not be mistaken that people who went to IMH are crazy, even for depression or something which I do not know its medical name, they were also referred to psychiatry.

I got a sudden brain seizure sometime when I participated in marching especially if the timer was beside me with his high amplitude pulsating noise. This problem was the worse in my primary and secondary school time. Even for a simple 1 minute national anthem in the school hall, I had a random seizure which last for about 10 seconds.

My best recovery was in my NYP life when I was exposed to many highly active situation especially in CCA and activities such as club crawl. I didn't know this is a problem since I have it since young, I thought it was natural fear but everything was diagnosed after my enlistment in NS even for things like atopic dermatitis (which I had it since sec 3, spreading on my face and scalp) and allergic rhinitis (which I had since young).

Whenever I have a seizure, you will either know or just don't realize since I may or may not look natural; usually I look nature unless I got a shock that cause a big seizure. Seizure is a problem with the brain electrical activities that cause a small part of the brain to contract, giving a shock that causes that affected part of brain to function abnormally. This does not happen frequently to me, it is some random problem that occurs rarely but once it occurs I will tighten my breathe, look stun and stop moving but I am still conscious. During the seizure, I felt scary as if I was jumping down the building. After the seizure, my leg and hand became weak or soft depending on how severe it was, I got use to it since I have it when young, it is something that is natural.

My great grandmother has epilepsy while one of my aunt was mentally wrong; it should be inherit. Hey people, if you don't know much about these scientific terms, you may think I am "SOOT" person aka crazy, epileptic people are purely mentally strong, don't worry. It is liked heart attack, when a patient does not have heart attack, he is completely fine, if he did, he is abnormal. Similar ideology applied to epilepsy as well. Actually now, the problem was still not confirmed since I have not went for the medical appointment yet but I am quite sure it is epilepsy.

According to scientific explanation, my type of seizure is considered "partial seizure". The full seizure should actually last for a few minutes, breathing ceased, the person collapsed and supposed to be unconscious, after he recovered, he felt confuse but mine was not so bad so I supposed that it is either non-epithetic seizure or partial seizure. Beware, you may also have a problem that was not diagnosed since you were young and you always thought that it is normal since it is very mild but actually it is a medical problem.

Today is a very unlucky day. I was partially awake early this morning so I bored the wrong directional train to city hall direction when I am supposed to travel to chua chu kang, eventually, I was late for 30 seconds. Furthermore, I forgotten to sign in till 2 hours later before I realised. In the afternoon, ISM checked our hair, almost 50% of us, including me was told to book out to get our hair cut and book in again. I also missed my company bus this morning so I brisked walk to my camp which was damn far.
